Chapter one
It was the first semester and the girls walked together in the morning even though they had different classes looking all glamourous. They laughed as they were strolling talking about their adventures of the weekend. Sade remember how the night went when they got carried away and went for a random road trip with some guys from their neighborhood. The guys were reluctant to come back and since the girls had school they had to take a 6hr bus ride back home. It was truly an experience as they learnt not to be reckless with people they just met. At least they had money or they could have been in trouble. They all reached the hallway and took different directions to their classes. After school they would hang out at the Shack which was a snack place that was next to the basketball court. They would just relax as they drunk some juice, before they went to do other activities. That's when they met Nick the basket baller who was tall and handsome he seemed friendly at first and very excited to meet them. He especially talked to Sade and you could tell sparks flew, so when he left the girls kept talking about him. After a while he came by and invited them to a house party that would happen end of the week and the girls were more than excited to go. He asked for Sade’s number and walked her home when they left.
Sade wasn’t much of a romantic but she liked the company of good people. Sapphire went for practice and Samira had to assignments to get to. That night Sade didn’t sleep she and Nick talked for hours at night and she just couldn’t get enough of his vibes. On the other hand, Samira got late to leave school and had to walk home late, which is something she hadn’t done before and unfortunately she almost got robbed, at a very dark corner some guy appeared from the dark and tried to grab her back pack that’s when she ran while screaming until she got home. She was so shaking and went straight to bed crying and didn’t tell anyone about it then. Sapphire was too tired from all the practice so she also had an early night.
Chapter two
Samira’s childhood wasn’t easy as she grew in a violent neighborhood that had a lot of crime, sex and drugs. She was bred of a single parent her mother was always working to earn a living. So she grew up with her nanny who was anything but pure, she demanded to be called auntie and would bring men around the house when their mother wasn’t in whom she engaged in sexual intercourse. “Auntie” made sure she put down Samira because she saw her potential, she would make her do the chores and insult her with remarks intended to hurt her. Then on a fateful night she got fired from the residency by Samira’s mother and was told to leave their home the next day. So Auntie decided to take the house keys and make an imprint with a bar of soap so as to go and create the key again. She left the place feeling bitter with all her belongings, and went to her gangster boyfriend whom she gave the soap to make the keys. They made a pair of the keys and planned an attack to the Samira’s family home. It would be easy, quick and fast they would get in and out. They observed Samira’s mothers pattern and as she was going in and out of the house and planned their robbery which they executed perfectly with Auntie coordinating all of these. No one was in the house when they executed their plan. Auntie decided to go after Samira’s Uncle who had been spoon by her and had fallen into her web, she had a kid with him just out of spite to Samira’s family, but they paid her no attention as they moved off they neighborhood after they got robbed Blind. Fortunately, Samira was smart and very hardworking so she excelled in School, she was also good in sports which got her scholarships, her mother also acquired wealth which made them move from to a lavish neighborhood.
After that night of walking home alone, she had a dreadful dream of being back to her past when she was a kid being terrified and bullied by Auntie and the violent environment that was her fear. Growing up feeling undervalued, with no esteem and no power, she woke up with a gasp! Thank God it was just a dream. She couldn’t sleep anymore so she decided to watch some female NBA games, her dream was to one-day play in the game. But school had taken precedence as it was demanding and draining with all the assignments as she was in Law school. She had not gone for practice a whole week so she was off her game and had been benched for some of the matches. Then this dreadful thing with being late she decided that it was time to choose herself and her talent since she had been losing herself to school. “Samira is back” she kept whispering to herself as she got a few more hours of rest.
