I am a Kenyan girl,
born in the pride of East Africa,
Skin as black as coal,
Hair as hard as steel.
I love who i am
in spite of everyone asking
Why are you so dark?
Why wont your hair grow?
My hair texture represents my relentless spirit
My dark skin represents my strength that grows daily
My tough locs represent my stubborn energy
And my Short hair is my heritage, that which i carry
I am Black, I am beautiful
Raised through trouble
just to make me stronger
I am Kenyan, i am pride.
