Caught red-handed

Guilty as charged!

I promised to quit,

these dire habits of lying,

but you know what they say about old dogs,

they can't learn new tricks even if they tried.

When my sister asked for help with chores,

I told her i wasn't feeling good of course,

then i laid down on my bed, acting miserable

so she left me to get well.

I stopped drinking that wine,

but when i saw that insta-story,

of a party that was next door,

my feet quickly swept me of the floor.

When i got to the party,

my friends asked me, didn't you promise to quit though?

So i brushed them off saying it was a month ago,

and at that time i felt good as i was in an ecstatic mood.

Until i left to go home at four,

feeling all sneaky and smart,

but guess who i found waiting in the dark,

my sister damn it!she had me figured out.

I stood there looking dumb,

and to make matters worse i had a bottle of wine on hand,

So you quit drinking and lying? she asked sarcastically,

my mind went blank and all i said was at least am trying.
