Boomerang Kids

The fact that i'm an adult, is both terrifying and hilarious.

Live your fullest in your twenties, (they said)

It will be the best moment of your life, (they said)

the best sex of your life,(they said)

the best memories of your life, (they said)

But nobody ever mentioned that,

it would be filled with lessons,

some which you relearn every moment,

plus responsibilities you aren't ready for.

Then the endless confusion as you try,

to figure things out in your life,

looking for your purpose,

and settling for making money.

Did i mention the heartbreaks,

from different people who teach you a lot,

and from the failure you have to stomach,

coz grown ups go through a lot.

Plus the pressure to have it all,

at a young age as that's the trend,

instead of living your best life,

your worried about the uncertain future.

It's never too early to start planning( they said)

it's never too early to get married (they said)

you won't be young forever (they said)

you can be anything you want (they said)

Asif you had the choice in the first place,

coz the reality hits you in the face,

when you realise you have to do the same,

boring things people did back in the day.

Maan i hate growing up,

but i wouldn't have it any other way,

as life is a gift that is precious,

so you have to give it your best smile.
